Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam" is doing extremely in the second weekend overseas despite facing competition from other new releases.
The legal controversy regarding the film's presentation of Islamism seemed to have generated positive publicity for it in India and overseas. The film was released in the US and UK markets on its scheduled date, Jan 25, in Tamil and Telugu versions.

In its second weekend, the Tamil version of the film raked in ₹63.13 lakh (£ 75,140) on 20 screens at the UK box office and ₹1.08 crore ($ 2,03,901) on 43 screens in the US, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The Telugu version of the film minted ₹29.47 lakhs ($ 55,251) on 21 screens in the US during the second weekend.
The overall global collection of the film after 10 days totalled to ₹ 7.64 crore.
Three new movies - "David", "Kadal" and "Ongole Githa"- were released this week, but failed to beat the collections of "Vishwaroopam".
Previous release Mahesh Babu-starrer "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" is successfully completing its fourth week overseas. The Telugu family drama has become a blockbuster film.

In its fourth weekend, the film raked in ₹4.13 lakh ($ 7,750) on eight screens, taking the overall total to ₹8.70 crore ($ 16, 33,522).
Meanwhile, "Vishwaroopam", which stars Kamal in the lead role, was released in North India on Feb 1. The film saw an average occupancy of about 50 to 60 percent upon its release in the region.
The spy-thriller was directed and co-produced by Kamal and features Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles.
